-(1) Credit of PE is required for graduation and you can now get your PE credit if you participate in Marching Band at CHS. Be sure to sign-up for one of the following classes depending on your instrument/equipment if you want MB to count for your PE credit.
-Marching Winds w/PE option
-Marching Percussion w/PE option
-Color Guard w/PE option
-ROTC & BAND – YES you can do both! We have over 40 students that are in band & ROTC currently and many who have been in ROTC & band all 4 years. We have a great relationship with ROTC!
-Carpooling: With 180+ students, we have LOTS of students that carpool to rehearsals, games etc. Someone lives close to you and carpooling is BIG in band!
-$$$ Concerns - We have numerous fundraising opportunities and scholarships available to help offset the cost of band fees. If you want to be in the band, then we will find a way to make that happen! Please do not let $$ be the thing that keeps you from continuing band in HS.
-(1) unit of Fine Arts is required to attend SC Public Universities. Staying in band your 9th grade year will satisfy that requirement.
-Can you earn scholarship $$ for college by playing an instrument? YES! We have 14 of our 28 band seniors graduating this year have been offered over $650,000 in college music scholarships! $500,000 of these scholarships are just for students to continue to play their instrument in band at college and are not attached to majoring in music!
The Clover HS Band program has experienced almost 50% growth in the last 4 years and right now we are looking to have over 200 in the fall band! We have an outstanding program with opportunities for all students and we certainly hope that your child will become part of the “Clover Band Family” next year! The payoff for all of their hard work the past 3 years in middle school starts now!! We certainly hope that your child’s band journey will continue with us at Clover HS next year!
