Region Band Audition Information (Select Students)

12-18-19

Students will receive their audition ticket the day before the audition.

Dear Parent or Guardian,

Your child has been selected to audition for region band. Audition location are attached. If your child makes region band they will be performing at Converse College on February 21^st and 22^nd. I will notify all students of their results within a week of their audition. Students who score high on their auditions will be eligible for an all-state audition on January 25^th at Lexington High School. I will notify students who will be eligible for an all-state audition after region band results are in. If you have any questions please email Mr. Gibson.

Please arrive at Woodruff High School in Woodruff SC an hour before your audition on Saturday January 11^th 2019.

Some additional information:

All students will need to have a paper hard copy of the audition solo. Students may not read the solos off of electronic devices in the audition room. Photocopies of solos will not be provided at the audition site – students need to be prepared and bring their own copy.
All students should arrive at Woodruff High School one hour before scheduled audition time.
Upon arrival at Woodruff High School, follow signs to locate warm-up room and audition room(s).
No one will be allowed to play their instruments except during the audition and in the warm-up room.
When ready to audition, all students will need to check in with their audition room page ten minutes prior to their audition time. Ask your room page if your audition is completed in one or two rooms. Once inside the audition room, students will sign in on a signature list outside their audition room.
Students must have their audition ticket with them to audition.
Parents are to stay in the warm up area and wait for your child to complete the audition.
Do not call or contact Woodruff High School with questions or requests for travel directions. Travel directions are available on the next page. If you have any questions concerning auditions, ask Mr. Gibson.
Sign up for the CMS Band REMIND 101 if you have not done so already.

Please notify Mr. Gibson if transportation will be an issue. It is expected that students are to be taken by a parent or guardian to the event. No buses will be provided to the audition site.

After your child has completed the audition you may take them home.

This is a great opportunity for your child to learn and grow as a young musician. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to call or email.

Great job to all who auditioned for All County Band. I should be receiving individual results later this week.

Please plan on practicing for January 11th's region band audition at Woodruff High School.

All students not riding the bus will need to report to the auditorium by 5:00pm in concert black attire.

Please indicate on this form if your child will be riding the bus or will be dropped off at the auditorium. All Students will be receiving a grade for this performance. It will be required that they stay the entire concert to receive credit. The concert should last approximately one hour. If you have any questions please email Mr. Gibson.

All students on this list will need a ride to the auditions. Please arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled audition time. All students will need their audition ticket, music and instrument. Audition tickets will be handed out to students January 9th and 10th.

All students not riding the bus will need to report to the auditorium by 5:00pm in concert black attire.

Winter Concert Monday December 16th 6:30pm Clover School District Auditorium

Our annual winter concert is December 16th. This is a mandatory event for all band students. Students not in attendance will receive a 0% for a test grade. All students will need to be in concert black attire for this event. (Boys black dress pants, black dress shirt, black belt, and black dress shoes. Ladies black dress is school dress code or black slacks, black top, and dress shoes.) You may purchase the students attire anywhere you would like. If you have any questions please email Mr. Gibson.

All county band auditions tomorrow (Select students only)

We will be taking a bus on December 10th to Fort Mill Middle School for York County Auditions. Students should bring money for dinner as we will stop before we get to Fort Mill.

Tentative Itinerary :

Depart CMS at 2:00pm
Get dinner from Wendys or Chick-Fil-A 2:45pm (Cherry Rd Rock Hill)
Arrive at Fort Mill Middle by 4:15pm
Auditions 4:30pm-9:00pm (Approxametly)
Return to CMS by 9:30pm

If you would like to pick up your child from Fort Mill Middle School you will need to notify Mr. Gibson in advanced. Please contact him if you have any questions.

I will need help with the following:

Teachers/parent help 3:45pm-5:00pm. ( 3-5 people)

I need help with feeding the student pizza at CMS
Monitoring students in band rooms
Making sure they getting changed in concert black
Monitoring the bathrooms
Help with navigating the students to the busses for transport to the auditorium

5:00pm – 6:15pm at the auditorium

I need some parents /teachers monitoring kids in the audience (Sitting/standing near students to make sure they are quiet while I warm up and tune the bands before the performance.)
Monitor kids using restrooms
Checking in kids who have been dropped off at the auditorium.
Making sure students put belongings in designated places behind the stage.

6:30pm concert

All parents and chaperones relax and enjoy the concert.
Teachers/administrators will be near the students at this point to monitor behavior.

7th and 8th grade Atlanta Payment Update from Tour Company

The Next payment of $100 is due on January 17th.

Trip insurance is available for an additional $25.50. I will be receiving a form from the company in January with this information if you would like to purchase this.

IF YOU ARE A CHAPERONE YOU WILL RECEIVE AN EMAIL FROM ME WITHIN THE WEEK ABOUT WHEN TO GET YOUR PAYMENT IN.

THE SECOND PAYMENT OF $100 IS DUE ON JANUARY17TH.

TODAY November 26th is when the first deposit is due. The first payment is $150. The total cost for the trip for students is $350. The price is based on 100 students going set by the travel company. The final itinerary will be finalized by the travel company once performance times have been set.

Once I have the final numbers of students going to Atlanta, a decision will be made if we will go or not. If we do not go to Atlanta all parents will be receiving their deposit back.

Your first payment is due on November 26th. This will serve as your commitment on going to Atlanta. If we do not have enough students to have a band you will receive your deposit back. A decision will be made LATER TODAY.
