Jazz Band Rehearsal
Parents,
Starting Friday Jazz Band rehearsals will be extended to 5:30pm. We will have to extend rehearsals on Monday and Friday form 3:45pm-5:30pm in preparation for our state festival performance.
We will also have to add an additional rehearsal day in the mornings starting next Wednesday. It will be from 7:20am - 8:10am. This time will be used to work individual parts in sectionals. We will start next Wednesday. If your child takes the bus they can join us when they arrive at school.
The SC Jazz festival is held at Newberry College. I have requested that our day to perform is Friday February 28th. If I do not get our requested day they will have us perform on Saturday February 29th. Please keep these dates available. The site hosts does a very good job of honoring the directors request but asks all directors to be flexible. I will not have our performance time until the beginning of February. Once the times have been finalized I will notify parents and hand out an itinerary. We will be taking a bus to the event.
Students will have to ride the bus to the event. This is a free concert to the public. Parents are encouraged to come and cheer on the CMS jazz band.

Jazz Band Rehearsal Today and Friday After School 3:45pm-5:00pm
Please plan on being here for Jazz Band rehearsal as we prepare for SC Jazz Festival at the end of February. Every rehearsal matters as we begin preparations for this event.

REGION BAND AUDITIONS TOMORROW
Students have received their audition ticket and will need it tomorrow for the audition. Students who do not audition will be responsible for paying back the $20 registration to CMS.

Your child has been selected to audition for region band. Audition location are attached. If your child makes region band they will be performing at Converse College on February 21st and 22nd. I will notify all students of their results within a week of their audition. Students who score high on their auditions will be eligible for an all-state audition on January 25th at Lexington High School. I will notify students who will be eligible for an all-state audition after region band results are in. If you have any questions please email Mr. Gibson.
Please arrive at Woodruff High School in Woodruff SC an hour before your audition on Saturday January 11th 2019.
Some additional information:
All students will need to have a paper hard copy of the audition solo. Students may not read the solos off of electronic devices in the audition room. Photocopies of solos will not be provided at the audition site – students need to be prepared and bring their own copy.
All students should arrive at Woodruff High School one hour before scheduled audition time.
Upon arrival at Woodruff High School, follow signs to locate warm-up room and audition room(s).
No one will be allowed to play their instruments except during the audition and in the warm-up room.
When ready to audition, all students will need to check in with their audition room page ten minutes prior to their audition time. Ask your room page if your audition is completed in one or two rooms.
Parents are to stay in the warm up area and wait for your child to complete the audition.
Do not call or contact Woodruff High School with questions or requests for travel directions. Travel directions are available on the next page. If you have any questions concerning auditions, ask Mr. Gibson.
Sign up for the CMS Band REMIND 101 if you have not done so already.
Please notify Mr. Gibson if transportation will be an issue. It is expected that students are to be taken by a parent or guardian to the event. No buses will be provided to the audition site.
After your child has completed the audition you may take them home.

ALL STUDENTS AUDITIONING FOR REGION BAND ON SATURDAY WILL NEED TO PRACTICE BEFORE OR AFTER SCHOOL TO GET HELP ON YOUR AUDITION MATERIAL.
Mr. Gibson will be available to work with students auditioning for region band before school or after school this week. It is important that all students practice their material BEFORE the audition.
Any student who needs transportation to the audition please contact Mr. Gibson. It is expected that all students have a ride to the audition no bus will be provided.
