Band Information!



Parents,

It is truly an honor and a privilege to be teaching your child this school year. I am excited to see what our 6th grade band will accomplish this year. Below are some important announcements. Please let me know if you have any questions. Have a great week!

Attached is a copy of the band tee shirt order form. If you or your child are interested in buying a band tee shirt please make sure to indicate that on the form and return the money and form in an envelope with your child’s name on it. The tee shirt color will be grey. All orders will be in by the middle of October. The last day to order a band tee shirt is September 20th.

All students are expected to practice daily. Please make sure your child brings their instrument home daily to work on their band assignments. Students should also pick up their instrument at the end of the school day. If you have any questions or concerns please email Mr. Gibson.

Any woodwind students who needs to purchase reeds through the school will be $2 per reed for alto and clarinet and $3 per reed for tenor sax, bari sax and bass clarinet. All students should be playing on a Vandoren Java reed. Strength 2.5 (In October all students should be playing on a Vandoren V12 strength 3)

All students should have their band book by October 1st. Students can purchase a band book through the school for $12. Please make checks payable to CMS.

All students should keep up with their music folder/binder, instrument. It is the responsibility of the band student to have all materials for class daily.

All band students can come in the band room to practice in the mornings. Students should take advantage of this opportunity.

The 6th grade band students will be going on a spring trip to Carowinds in May 2020. More information will be provided to parents and student in the upcoming weeks about this optional trip.

All band students should have returned their band paperwork that was sent out over the summer. If you need additional copies or have any questions please email Mr. Gibson.

All percussion students can attend Mr. Hall’s night of percussion from 4pm-6pm on Tuesday 9-17-19 in the Clover High School Band Room. Students can take the high school shuttle or can be dropped off for the event. This is a great opportunity for our percussion students to get better on their instrument. All 6th grade students should have an instrument to play on. If your child does not have an instrument please conctact Mr. Gibson.

7th and 8th grade students Jazz band auditions will take place in a couple of weeks. Any student who is interested should attend the audition. The date and times of the auditions will be announced in about a week.

The 7th and 8th grade band students will be going on a spring trip in 2020. More information will be provided to parents and student in the upcoming weeks.

7th and 8th grade students should sign up for ensembles in the band room.

7th grade honor band auditions and 8th grade honor band auditions will take place this week. Students should practice their concert F, Bb, Eb, and Ab scales as well as a portion of their concert band music. More information will be provided to the students in class.
