FRIDAY S.E.E. Day (FLUTES)

 Flute students FRIDAY 10-2-20 we will have sectional during school.  ONLY FLUTES will be required to come in during our S.E.E. days for BAND. 

We will be rotating sections on Fridays every 4-5 weeks.  I will let each section know in advanced if they will need to come on a Friday.


STARTING NEXT WEEK WE WILL HAVE CLARINETS. 

If you are not a flute player and have to come to school on Friday for another teacher you will have band and join the sectional. Bring your instrument if this is the case. 

Transportation will be provided to the band students who are expected to come on the S.E.E. days.


CVA students who will be joining us in person on Fridays will need to come during the following times:

8th Grade - 8:44am-9:44am

7th Grade - 9:45am-10:49am

6th Grade - 11:35am-12:30pm


All other students will have an assignment to do during the S.E.E. day.  This will be announced in advanced.

Material Check for all grades next week

 Students will have material check next week.  All students will have to have a pencil, band folder and instrument to get a 100% for their material check. 

7th and 8th grade students will start learning new music today and tomorrow

6th grade students

 6th grade students have a test today or tomorrow on assembling the instrument and demonstrating proper playing position and resting position.


6th grade students that just entered the class this week will be fitted for an instrument.  These students will need to get their instrument by October 4th.

7th Grade Opportunity

 This week 7th grade students will be able to switch their instrument to a school owned instrument. If you would like to audition please sign up on the sign up sheet.


Instruments to switch to are:

Tuba

Baritone

French Horn

Tenor Sax.

Bari Sax

Bass Clarinet 


If selected students would not have to pay for the instrument.  Students would be responsible for any damage to the instrument. There will be a form to sign if selected. Students can still keep their rent to own instrument.

7th and 8th grade playing test next week

 Concert Bb playing test will begin on Monday. 

7th and 8th grade students

 New music will be handed out within the next couple of weeks.  Keep on practicing daily so we may add a virtual performance in about a month or so. More information will be provided at a later time. 

6th grade students

 Practice only with your mouthpiece. Do not try to put your instruments together yet.


Clarinet and Saxophone students will receive information on reeds by the weekend.

6th grade students

We will be going over lesson 5 and review lessons 1-5 this week.

 If you have been contacted to get your instrument through Pecknel music in the first wave instruments should be going out to students this week. Students will learn the proper way to care for their instrument.  Students will have assignments to do on getting a sound out of their mouth piece this week.  More information will be provided during class.

 

All students who still need to be fitted for an instrument no worries we will complete this by next week and you will receive your instruments in the second wave. 


Any student who has not received an instrument will receive one within the next couple of weeks.

Assignments to be completed on the virtual days

7th and 8th grade students should go to www.jwpepper.com and find a piece of music you would suggest the band to play this year.

8th grade will need to practice chorale #1 and a Concert Bb scale.  Please submit a recording of you playing to Mr. Gibsons email.  Nicholas.gibson@clover.k12.sc.us

8th grade will need to practice #20 and #25 in the red book. 

7th grade will need to practice Concert Bb scale. Please submit a recording of you playing to Mr. Gibsons email.  Nicholas.gibson@clover.k12.sc.us

6th grade students will need to work on the worksheets LESSON 1, 2 and 3. (All classes will be caught up to lesson 3 tomorrow.)
